Can I still enter if I will be turning 17 before march 9th?
November 27, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersilvertounge
Hi Silvertounge, Tricky question! You don't say when your birthday is. If it's a few weeks before the deadline, just submit your story early while you're still 16. Then you won't be breaking any rules! :-) I hope this answer is helpful. -- Anne

Is it OK if it's a little over 1,000 words?

Can u send it in earlier than March 9th so u don't forget.Even if ur 12 and u turn 13 on March 5th.Because i know I'll. Get it done earlier than March 9th.

Daisy Star, Please try to keep it to 1000 words. If it's five or ten words over, we won't disqualify it, but I bet if you go through it carefully, you can make small edits that will eliminate words and make your story stronger. I've done it many, many times myself!!

And yes, you can send in your story as early as you want!!! No penalties for being an early bird!! We've already started receiving entries.

Can we submit a story that we have written in the past?
December 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterM
Yes, M, submit your best story of 1000 words or under. It doesn't matter when it was written, as long as you follow the other rules of the contest. And good luck!! -- Anne

I think that I might enter. What kind of story, though?
How are you judging the contest? Is it okay if the story is really sad?
December 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMC

I was wondering if I could send you my short story as an attchment in an email. Just wondering, because it's easier to type it onto a document and add my own little personalizations.....
No worries, if this is not possivble :)
December 22, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMei
Like if I typed it on Microsoft word and sent it to you with the email
December 22, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMei
Hi Mei, You can copy your document right into the body of the email. I've done it many times. We want to read your story, so please don't send it as an attachment. -- Anne

I just wanted to confirm that you got it!
~ Thanks!

Did you get my story?
January 3, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMaddy
Hi Anne and Ellen! I have a story I REALLY want to turn in, but it's over two thousand words! Could you give me advice on how to condense it?
January 7, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAshley
HI Maddy, We don't send email (or other) confirmations that a story has been received. Our mail system works pretty well, though. Looking forward to reading your story & the others!
January 8, 2015 | Registered CommenterAnne & Ellen
Ashley - You can take a look at your story and see if you can shorten it. If you can't do it without ruining the story, our advice is to submit something else!
